RWO Product Portfolio

RWO offers different solutions for vessels and makes sure to find the best system for your ship. We are proud to be able to take care of the Total Water Management aboard your ships.

RWO's product range for vessels covers the four sectors Oil Water Separation, Wastewater Treatment, Ballast Water Treatment and Process & Fresh Water Treatment.

Oily Water Separation

Oily Water Separator OWS-COM complies with the actual IMO Resolution MEPC.107(49) using the combination of the highly effective open porous coalescer together with a second stage emulsion breaking oil and hydrocarbon polisher.

Wastewater Treatment

CleanSewage Bio is designed to put all efforts with wastewater treatment to the lowest level possible. The accessibility from one side allows ship designers to plan space in the engine room on a whole new level.

Operators and crew are pleased with a hygienic no-touch-cleaning system, an intuitive status control allows checking at a glance, whether the system is running or intervention is necessary. Thereby CleanSewage Bio works with a proven 3-chamber-treatment concept that ensures highest water quality according to MEPC.227(64).

Reverse Osmosis desalination

RWO's reverse osmosis desalination systems (SRO) are designed for independent and reliable potable and / or process water supply onboard ships. 

The reverse osmosis process is ideal for fresh water or process water generation - being easy to operate, economical and producing excellent water quality. 

Softeners and Demineralisers

Hardness in water is caused by ions of calcium and magnesium, being of prime concern for many technical applications because of its scale forming tendencies.

Some water users onboard ships need softened water, e.g. hot water circuits, laundry water, galley water, boiler feed water, cooling water, dish washers, etc. Other users need even more, i.e. a higher degree of demineralisation than evaporators, reverse osmosis or softeners may provide.

All RWO ion-exchanger plants are producing water of the highest standards and are characterised by a chemical and water saving regeneration mode.

Ion-Exchange Softening

If water containing calcium and magnesium passes through an ion exchanger, these ions are taken up by the resin, which simultaneously gives up sodium in exchange. 

After the ability of the bed to produce softwater has been exhausted, the unit is removed from service and regenerated with a solution of sodium chloride. This is removing the calcium and magnesium in the form of their soluble chlorides and at the same time restores the resin to its original sodium condition.

Water Demineralisation

A demineralisation plant is also a softener system but goes one step further than softeners by removing basically all dissolved ions from the water. The result is a fully demineralized water, low in conductivity and free of other impurities, such as silica and CO2 – therefore suitable e.g. for ship turbines and other technical applications that require pure water.
